Isabella (Yaya) Bernell

Hello! My name is Isabella Bernell, my pronouns are she/them, and I’m currently a second year student at UCSD. I’m from Beijing, China, and I’ve always been really intrigued by international relations, particularly regarding the intersection between international relations and social work. I’m really fascinated by the impact of culture, gender, and sexuality on behavior. I have always been really passionate about social issues, which is what I’m hoping to also focus on through my role.

Immensely grateful to be a part of Leading Women of Tomorrow, I am proud and excited to embark on this opportunity to help empower womxn around the world, particularly those interested in fields where womxn remain underrepresented. As the Director of Special Initiatives, I am hoping to branch out and really begin to delve on deducing ways to support and empower POC and/or LGBTQ+ womxn both domestically and internationally. I’m excited to contribute and hope to create an inclusive and supportive environment where everyone can feel safe and confident!
