Sophia Ramcharitar
Sophia is currently a senior at American University studying International Studies with a minor in Law & Society and certificate in Community-Based Research. From a young age, she has been motivated to serve and advocate for others – her career in public service began while interning for the NYC Office of Administrative Trials and Hearings. Since then, Sophia has gone on to work for her local District Attorney’s Office, Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer, former 2020 U.S. presidential candidate Rep. Tulsi Gabbard, the U.S. Department of State, Gender Equality Law Center and the Center for International Policy. Currently, she interns with the Foreign Affairs and Defense division of the Congressional Research Service and conducts research for the United Planning Organization.
With a passion for achieving gender and racial parity in the public sector, Sophia currently serves as the Executive Director of Leading Women of Tomorrow. She has worked with students and faculty to bring LWT’s initiatives to college campuses in across the country. By establishing LWT chapters nationwide, Sophia hopes to help students foster communities oriented towards leadership, professional development, and civic engagement.
In her free time, Sophia enjoys curating Spotify playlists, exploring DC, and cooking her favorite dishes!
