LWT Visits: The Wing
A few weeks ago, I found myself pacing the 1050 block of Thomas Jefferson St in DC looking for the somewhat hidden entrance to the Georgetown location of The Wing. But when I entered the female-only social club and co-working space, my heart genuinely skipped a beat. Every detail of the office paid an ode to the history of women, while providing a comfortable, stylish environment to its members. While the feminist icon wallpaper and library housing 2,000 volumes by female authors were impressive, it was the simplicity of The Wing’s mission that truly blew me away: building community. Inspired by the women’s clubs of the 19th and early 20th century, the organization “believe[s] that the act of coming together as women creates new opportunities, ideas and conversations that will lead to greater mobility and prosperity for womankind”.[1]
LWT is looking forward to hosting our inaugural regional events later this year at such venues enriched by the spirit of women's empowerment. Be sure to like our social media pages for updates on how to sign up for these events!
